About the Author
Susan Hanson is the Jan and Larry Landry University Professor and a Professor and Director of the School of Geography at Clark University. She is an urban geographer with teaching and research interests in gender and economy, the geography of everyday life, and sustainability. Dr. Hanson has been editor of three geography journals -- Economic Geography, the Annals of the Association of American Geographers, and The Professional Geographer -- and serves on the editorial boards of several other journals. She is currently on the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board. Dr. Hanson also is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and past president of the Association of American Geographers.

Genevieve Giuliano is Professor in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development at the University of Southern California and Director of the METRANS Transportation Center. Her research interests center on transportation policy and on relationships between land use and transportation. Dr. Giuliano is a former editor of Urban Studies and serves on the editorial boards of several journals. She is a former faculty fellow of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and a former member of the Executive Board of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning. Dr. Giuliano also is a member and past chair of the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board and is a National Associate of the National Academy of Sciences.

Informative, but boring

Assigned as a textbook. The book is pretty informative, and a good text for those with a limited background in transportation planning. However, it is mostly boring, and can be a very dense read at times. It also appears that some of the chapters have never been updated despite being the third edition, many use old data to come to questionable conclusions while making examples. Other chapters appear to be fully up to date and aware of the current conditions of things.

Pretty but not very instructional.

Is eye candy. The book is very colorful with lots of font samples but ABSOLUTE NO DIRECTION ON HOW TO CREATE THE TYPES. There about 80-something pages of pretty art work. There are a few pages of the basic description of what makes a letter and how to create a design. It is mostly examples of what can be done but very little on how to do it. I guess it is very well worth it for the price of download.

Only a little how-to, but TONS of gorgeous inspiration!

Although I wish this were more of a how-to book, as one might think a book titled "ABCs of..." would be, I completely forgive the lack of depth in that area due to the wide array of beautifully laid out inspiration!

This book does have some explanations of font info, some tips, some FAQs, but where it shines is the middle where a multitude of typeface artists display a selection of their work and talk about how they got into lettering. There is such variety here, such colors, it's fantastic!

And furthermore, although the other reviewer pointed out that this is more of a PDF (it is) that you can't bookmark (you can't), I don't find this a flaw at all! So many beautiful non-fiction books - art books and others - have gorgeous layouts on each page which are lost when the publisher makes the digital version. Here the entire intended layout is preserved with each flourish and bit of eye candy intact! It's like kindle magazines and I love it! No more lost formatting! No more crummy, pixelated, 1" photos TYVM!!

Also-- $3.99 is a great price.

I really enjoyed this book. It is loaded with examples. I will be using it often. My only disappointment is that the kindle version wouldn't let me bookmark any pages. It was more like a PDF file than a kindle book.

Simply genius

This is an incredibly easy intro to music theory. It shows which chords sound good with other chords. It shows how simply folk and rock songs are put together (3 or 4 chords, usually). I'm an "adult beginner" on piano and keep it on the piano at all times. It helps me figure out how to accompany myself once I've picked out a tune. I may even be on the verge of composing a song, thanks to this simple tool. Changing keys seemed impossibly difficult until I got this. (If you've ever wondered what is meant by the I, IV, V chords, get this and life will make sense.) Most of all, it's fun. Highly recommended.

A wonderful music theory tool

I have played guitar for over 10 years. I am a guitar instructor as well. Sometimes it's difficult to keep all the chord theory in my head at all times. This little tool, the Chord Wheel, is an excellent aid that I find myself using often.

The Chord Wheel has a spinnable template that lays over the circle of fifths. Instantly, it helps you understand the flats and sharps in each key. Once you spin it to a certain key, it gives you all the main chord substitutions for every step in the gey--genious. The Chord Wheel also has some excellent chord theory instruction within its few pages.

I use The Chord Wheel as part of my teaching curriculum. I haven't found a better tool to teach the circle of fifths or to introduce my students to the power of basic chord substitutions.

Very good tool that helps create great progressions quickly

The chord wheel has helped me greatly in creating more interesting progressions very quickly. It has 12 pages of information that tells how to use the wheel on the front of the book. This information alone may not be enough to get the most use out of this tool, but it does help. I would recommend this in conjunction with a good music theory book. Edly's Music Theory for Practical People would be a good choice to pair this tool with. Regardless of how much theory knowledge you have, it is well worth the price and is a very good tool. I have told many friends about it and almost all of them have purchased one. They have also found it very useful!

Best reference book for Marshall Amps

If you own vintage Marshall Tube Amps or just thinking about buying a vintage Marshall Amp, buy this book. I disagree with other reviewers, this book is what-it-is, a reference book for vintage Marshall Amps made from 1962 to 1992. Who gives a crap about the Chicom Marshalls made from 2000 to present. I really like the section with all the glossy photos of all the vintage and obscure Marshall Amps that were made through out the years. There were some Marshall amps I had never even heard of before and I've played through all the good ones, 1971 Super Lead 100(4 input), 1978 JMP 2204 Master Volume, 1983 JCM800 2203 MkII, 1990 JCM900 2500 MkIII, and even a JCM2000 DSL100. I still own the JMP 2204 and the JCM900 2500 MkIII and will never sell them.

The History of Marshall

Since there are no OTHER books out there dealing with the Marshall amplification history this one will just have to do..for now. Sporting no glossary, and with more pictures and poorly reproduced schematics than relevant tonal references, I found myself searching time and time again for some clue as to the legendary tonal qualities associated with the individual models. None were given really. I was hoping for some help in trying to select a new or vintage Marshall amp and I couldn't find it here. There is far MORE INFORMATION available on the internet than is compiled here in this book. Copyrighted in 1993 this book NEEDS TO BE UPDATED, it's now 15 years out of date. For $33.00 I could have done without this book..although I do like looking at the pictures.

Best book of my medical career

This is absolutely completely useful. I'll probably be using this book for the rest of my life. It's got emergency information and continuous care info; pediatrics and ob-gyn; common and uncommon diseases, and best of all, it's written with considerations of low income settings. It's basically the best book I've bought in my medical career, and I carry it with me all the time. I'm trying to memorize it, actually.

But: it seems at first site less professionally structured compared to the Oxford Handbook of internal medicine.

A great book for couples or singles

Patricia Taylor has written a must-read book for everyone looking to take their intimacy to the next level. Not just a book of sex tips (although you'll find those too!), this work will teach you how to communicate with your partner to heighten your trust and connection and to really get to know what makes one another tick. This is a great resource for couples to share together, but I also recommend it for singles to read so that they can bring their advanced lovemaking skills and confidence in their sexuality into their next relationships or fun casual encounters. It's a fun read with plenty of suggested activities and checklists. Highly recommend.

This is more than about expanded orgasm

I have read the book from start to finish - and now I am re-reading it with my husband of 45 years. We have had a busy life and now we want to rekindle our marriage. It is helping me to express myself to my husband in way I have never done before.

What I like most is how we are learning to communicate with each other by following the activities. I was not sure if my husband was going to go along with this program but to my surprise he is for it. We will be going on our first Sandbox date this weekend and both of us are looking forward to the experience. Have all the questions answered in our Journals for the first date.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is married and wants to expand there relations, communications and sex with the their love one. This would be for any age - my husband and I are 67 but we both feel this was a book we could have used in our forties or before.

Delivery a bit long, but the conditions of the book were great. I have sorted through the book and I haven't seen anything I don't already know, but it's a great reference book to keep in your desk for emergencies.

No high level picture is given on the best way to do different kinds of common things. Instead there is just a tedious description of one command after the other, mostly in isolation.

Book Two in the All My Love, Detrick series"You Are My Sunshine,"is a bestselling novel  set during the holocaust.
When Helga Haswell becomes pregnant by a married SS officer who abandons her, she finds herself alone and desperate. She is afraid to tell her parents that she is pregnant out of wedlock, so her doctor suggests that Helga check into Heinrich Himmler's home for the Lebensborn. This is a program, he explains, that has been instituted by the Nazi's to create perfect Aryan babies. Since Helga is of pure German blood and the child's father is an SS officer, she will be accepted, the doctor explains. Her child will have a good life because adoption is available only to the finest of Hitler's Elite. Not only this, the doctor says but during her pregnancy, Helga will have the finest food and medical care available. And, instead of a life of shame, she will be honored for her efforts in producing a perfect Aryan child for the new world that Hitler is in the process of creating. Then after the baby is born, the Lebensborn will take the child and assume all future responsibilities releasing Helga to live her life without the burden of a fatherless offspring. In her desperation, all of this sounded perfect to Helga, that was of course before she felt life stir within her womb. However, by the time this occurred it was already too late. She had already moved into Steinhoring, home for the Lebensorn, and there was no possibility of turning back. The papers were signed. She could not escape. Hitler owned her unborn child.
On a cold day in January Helga's little girl came into the world. But instead of being sheltered by her mother's arms, she was torn away by the nurses at the home for the Lebensborn and thrust into a treacherous world where the very people sworn to protect her were not what they seemed. The little girl was growing, and she was amongst some of the cruelest people on earth and subjected daily to the ideology of the Third Reich. But when Hitler became convinced that he was indestructible and, went to war on two fronts dividing his army, Germany began to fall. The Nazi's became fearful as America entered the war joining Churchill against them in the west, while Stalin a formidable enemy with the brutal Russian winters on his side, ripped them apart in the east. And so, the tables turned on the Third Reich. The cruel Nazi's, who believed they could not be defeated were about to swallow their pride and surrender at the feet of the Allies. The superior race would prove to be inferior after all. Hitler's elite would run for cover, some would commit suicide; some would be tried in Nuremberg for crimes against humanity, while others would escape with their tails tucked between their legs and head for South America or other friendly ports. But God had other plans for Helga's tiny innocent child, who had been born on that January morning. The child's life was about to change in a very strange but significant way. Instead of becoming whom and what the Nazi's had hoped to create, this child would be befriended and nurtured by the most unexpected people.

Riveting storyline, but...

This is the second book I've read by Roberta Kagan (1st was "All My Love, Detrick"), which completely captured my attention, with very realistic characters and a storyline evoking strong emotions on almost every level. This book was no less riveting and I cannot WAIT until "The Promised Land" is published! On the other hand, I must explain the reason for not giving this book a full 5 stars...the grammar and spelling were just atrocious! I found myself being constantly distracted from the storyline due to the number of spelling errors, commas in the wrong place (causing awkward pauses), or missing entirely, as well as apostrophes used incorrectly. Normally, I can overlook this aspect, if it is an occasional occurrence, but it was quite frustrating. I hope the next edition will be edited more carefully, as this seems to be (in my humble opinion) the only aspect preventing this author from becoming a best-seller. Review by Terry Dover

Misspellings and grammatical errors are distractions

The plot was intriguing and I quickly scanned the book to reach the end, but the numerous (at least in the hundreds) misspellings, comma splices, incomplete sentences etc etc were a terrible distraction. I also found some elements of the plot a little contrived. The author may have been inspired by Sophie's Choice when Zofia became a maid for Manfred's household at Auschwitz and took up residence in the basement. I also found Manfred's quick rise a little unbelievable, although from other reading, I know that there were many young people who rose quickly in the SS. As well, I didn't like the ending where the author left us hanging - waiting for the next book to come out. That being said, from reading other books about the Holocaust, I found the descriptions of the horrors of Auschwitz and the Nazi atrocities in general to be accurate.

Good, but.....

I enjoyed this book, but I felt that it could have ended much sooner than it did. Near the end it seemed to drone on and on. Also, there are so many typographical and grammatical errors. Where was the proofreader??? Very disappointed to see that at the end the reader gets no resolution to the character's journey but instead is urged to read the next book to find out! I do not like cliffhangers and was quite upset to see this. I'm not even sure if I can dive into the next book. Disappointed!
