I'm so glad I decided not to stop at No. 12, "Glorious Appearing!"
By Kindle Customer
After reading through some comments on Left Behind's final novel "Kingdom Come" I seriously considered stopping at "Glorious Appearing." (Don't forget books 14-16 - "The Rising," "The Regime," and "The Rapture" - of course; though I liked them better as books 1-3, leaving "Left Behind" as #4) "Glorious Appearing," after all, did come together enough at the end to be a nice conclusion all on its own. But WOW am I glad I talked myself into finishing the series off the way the authors intended! I really enjoyed "Kingdom Come."

In "Kingdom Come" we actually get the opportunity to know Kenney and others from his generation; and we get to see the troubles they have to face, even during Jesus' 1,000 year reign on earth. About 100 years into Jesus' reign a new defiant group of non-believers are popping up everywhere called "The Other Light" (TOL), or in some particularly extreme areas "The Only Light." (How anyone would not accept Jesus as our Lord and savior at that point in history is beyond me!) All of the new found chaos has caused a need for a whole new group of believers similar to the Tribulation Force to emerge, and their goal is to infiltrate the "TOL," and make any possible attempts to save young souls before it is too late for them.

I don't want to give anything away, so the only other thing I want to stress is the fact that once I started reading "Kingdom Come" I could not put it down! It could have easily been a start to a whole new side series focusing on Jesus' 1,000 year reign. I have a feeling Kenney and his friends could have had plenty of adventures left yet to come.

As a person who had very little knowledge of religion and the Bible before reading the Left Behind series I am now full of questions I simply have to find the answers to. I have a new found desperate urge to absorb as much information as I can pack into my brain, and I'm really enjoying it!

I would most definitely suggest reading this final novel in the Left Behind series! In my opinion it was one of the best.

Strange ideas of what the Millennium will be like
By Kev
I have kept end-times stuff at arms length most of my Christian life. There are a confusing number of different views and many of the main "end-times teachers" seem to approach the topic as a living rather than as a ministry (buy my books!). Nevertheless I did read the original 12 books in the series. I guess I do lean towards pre-mil and rapture though I'm no authority!

Now to the book: I never did think much of the series literary style - to state it generously, they are tolerable. I was mostly interested in being inspired and encouraged. "Kingdom Come" is probably the least enjoyable from a stylistic point of view. There is a lot of quoting from scripture - pages and pages worth! It makes you wonder if the point in quoting the Bible so much was mainly to add to the "word count".
The view of what life during the Millennium will be like seems consistent with what many teachers who hold to this perspective say - that only believers will enter the Millennium, that some will be survivors of the tribulation and will live the whole 1,000 years, aging very slowly, that much of the non-glorified and glorified believers activities will be focused on evangelizing the children of the non-glorified believers. This was all new to me! I sought to verify it by doing an internet search - its a little hard to find out what the end-times teachers think about this, but if you dig you will find that Lahaye is consistent with what others teach. About the true accuracy of LaHaye's perspectives, I don't know. I suppose I figured that the Millennium would be much the same as the Eternal State. I guess that isn't a safe assumption, but I will have to think about it before I just go with the idea of the resumption of temple sacrifices, the wedding supper of the Lamb NOT including all believers, but just the ones up to the rapture, etc.
One thing that did occur to me as I have been re-considering end-times stuff. If we are raptured before the tribulation etc - why have much interest in what happens thereafter? We wont be here for it! So we wont need to be able to figure it out - who the anti-Christ is, what the order of events will be, etc.

Okay ending, but it just leaves me wanting more.
By Vic George 2K6
As the capstone of the entire Left Behind series, Kingdom Come is an okay ending with Jesus now ruling over His Kingdom here on earth and everybody now lives in peace...until people start dying because they didn't put their faith in Jesus and a new resistance group called The Other Light emerges to oppose the regime that declares that people who don't put their faith in Jesus by the time they are 100 years old will die and go to Hell. It's just unfortunate that the book doesn't give us more than the beginning of such a rebellion that Scripture says will ultimately fail, as it does at the very end of the book when the Other Light gets smoked into ashes in seconds by God after growing to massive numbers in the vain hope that they will finally conquer God. I would like to see Tim and Jerry reunite, or at least somebody authorized by the writing duo, to pen a spinoff book series that covers everything that takes place in the Millennial Kingdom, where we get to see the fates of everybody we came to know throughout the Tribulation in the main Left Behind series. For now, it's something to read if you really need to see how the whole thing ends.
